Your Story Matters.

Stories tell us where we’ve been.
They create meaning and give us purpose.
They show us how we’ve loved and tell us how we’ve lived.
They remind us that we matter.
Our stories live on.

Let me help you tell yours.

“But I don’t have anything to tell. I haven’t done anything interesting. No one would want to hear my story.”

— says everyone, everywhere

Your life IS your story. The world needs your story.

I can help you tell your own
untold story before it’s too late.

You can read about why I’m qualified to tell your story here. Or read some of my own stories here. But what I really want you to know is that I am passionate about helping people tell their stories before it’s too late.

Death is certain. Benjamin Franklin told us that. But what is not certain is how we will be remembered. Unless we tell those stories ourselves. I want to help people share their legacies so that they live on, long after they are gone.

Let me help you reflect on what you’ve done, the lives you’ve touched, the inspiration you’ve had on those around you. Let me show you how you’ve made a difference by encouraging you to tell your stories, remembering the tiny, ordinary moments of your extraordinary life.

But most of all, let me remind you how much you are loved.
And how much your story matters.

The world needs your story.
So do I.

You don’t need a reason to tell your story.

But in case you want one or two, I’ve got some ideas.

  • A Memorial

A chance to celebrate a lost loved one with memories and family tales specifically curated around their lifetime. An obituary that captures a loved one as they should be remembered: with heart and soul and story.

  • An Honoring

A chance to recognize and appreciate a special person in the family. This could be anyone, from a graduate to a grandparent.

  • A Celebration

A chance to observe a milestone. Weddings, births and deaths, new jobs, promotions, retirements, anniversaries and the stories that go along with these occasions.

  • A Living Memoir

A chance to tell your own story in your own words to leave for those who will live on after your time has come.

  • A Family Reunion

A chance to tell stories together. If you’ve been missing your summer picnics, family camps, or barbecues, there’s still a chance to ‘see’ and catch up on the family fun through storytelling.

  • Just for Fun

A chance to laugh and remember, and laugh some more. Remember: you don’t need a reason to tell your stories.

Need more ideas?

Okay, okay, I’ve got a few more. But really, the possibilities are endless.
Maybe you want to capture your voice reading your daughter’s favorite picture book, so that she has it for her own children one day (Can you imagine hearing the voice of your great-great-great-grandmother?). Maybe you want to record yourself telling jokes, so that no one can ever say “I can’t remember what Dad sounded like when he laughed.” Maybe you’ve always wanted to be a radio DJ, and you want to curate and MC your own funeral’s soundtrack, whether you know the date or just want to plan ahead for when the time comes. Because it will come for all of us one day.

The point is, the possibilities are as wide as your imagination.
Let’s talk about your ideas.

It’s simple.

Here’s how it works

1. We talk. I take notes. I’ll listen while you tell me what you’d like to capture and we’ll discuss what our session will look like. I’ll make suggestions if you want them and then we’ll schedule a time for our in depth conversation.

2. We talk. Over Zoom. Or in person (if you’re nearby). I’ll invite you to dig deep and think about the stories that mean the most to you. I’ll start with some curated prompts based on our previous conversation, but we’ll let the conversation flow freely, so that you get to share the stories you want to remember. And the ones you want your family to remember. The ones you want to forget? We can leave those out.

3. While we talk, I record. I’ll record our live session to capture these stories. When we’ve finished, I’ll edit them down to a lovely mp3 for you to share. We can add pictures, sound effects, music, really, whatever you’d like to do to personalize it so that it’s juuuuuuuust right.

It really is that simple.

Here’s what this experience WON’T be

Therapy. Although talking through our own stories CAN indeed be therapeutic, and even though I do have a counseling degree, this isn’t meant to take the place of any other talk-therapy you might want for yourself.

Score settling. This is NOT the place to call out loved ones with passive-aggressive jibes through story. Ouch. No thank you.

Dirty Laundry Airing. Nope, not the place to hang Aunt Edna out to dry either.

Decision Making. This is more about reminiscing and remembering the people and places you’ve loved. Not to say big discussions can’t come up, but it may not be the best place to do the serious work required of major life decisions.

FAQs

  • It depends. I will aim for a one-week turnaround, but depending on the length of our conversation and any additional components you’d like to add, it could be longer. I will keep you informed along the way.

  • You’ll need a computer with a stable internet connection and the ability to log into Zoom. A nice microphone is an added bonus, but I’ve found the mic’s on computers to be just fine. We can talk about this.

  • Sure! As long as they’ve got a stable connection to Zoom, anyone is welcome. You curate the guest list.

  • Easy, I can edit that out. We’ll go back and forth until you are happy. I promise to make you sound great!

  • If you’d prefer that I write something up for you based on our conversation, I’d be happy to discuss this option as well. Just mention this when we talk.

  • This depends on the time and location of our conversation. We will discuss this in our free consultation call. If you’re looking for a ballpark though, Family Stories begin at $300.

A $60 surcharge will be added for in person interviews.

Here’s another, this one slightly more lighthearted.

If this sounds like an experience you and/or someone in your family might enjoy, RSVP below, and I will be in touch.

Due to the highly curated nature of each storytelling experience, reservations are limited as I can only plan for a handful of these calls each month.

Let’s tell your story!

Please tell me a little more about what you’re looking for and I’ll be in touch to set up a free 30-minute consultation.
